Prince Harry to avoid wedding because of Prince William: ‘Can’t bear being in same room’

A royal expert claims that the Duke of Sussex will miss his good friend’s wedding because seeing William will be “history repeating itself in the most painful way.”

Harry has turned down an invitation to a friend's wedding

Prince Harry has turned down an invitation to the wedding of a close friend of his, and a royal expert believes it is because he is not ready to be in the same room as Prince William.

Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster is marrying Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral on June 7.

Hugh is a good friend of both of the royal brothers, meaning the Prince of Wales could also be present at the ceremony.

Royal author Tom Quinn has claimed that Harry has turned down an invitation to the wedding to avoid seeing William.

He told The Mirror: “Harry’s decision not to attend his old friend Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding was probably inevitable once he realised his brother would be there.

“A friend of Harry’s said: ‘Harry definitely had second thoughts about turning down the invitation to Hugh’s wedding but he can’t bear the idea of being in the same building as his brother let alone the same room’.”

Mr Quinn added that Harry “felt he should have been usher” at the wedding.

The expert continued: “Harry hates the idea of completely losing touch with his old Etonian and army friends and he was close to Hugh Grosvenor, but attending a wedding at which his brother will be an usher is just history repeating itself in the most painful way.”

He added: “Harry felt he should have been invited to be an usher, but once again his brother takes precedence.”

This comes after a source told the Daily Express that Harry was “triggered” to decline the invitation when he found out William was being made an usher.”

The source said: “William was asked to take up a leading role in the wedding and that’s what triggered Harry to decline an invitation. It was the final nail in the coffin.”

They added: “Harry was very close to Hugh growing up so everyone thought it would have been him taking up a leading role, not William.”

It was previously reported that Harry was not invited to the wedding, but it was later confirmed that both Harry and Meghan Markle had in fact received a ‘save the date’.
